Clyde Altman, 84, 1115 N. Broadway St., Greensburg, died at 6:58 p.m. Monday, June 17, in Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg.
He was born Feb. 9, 1907 in Harmony, Ind., the son of David and Nettie Shaffer Altman. A veteran of World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served three years, with 14 months duty in England. He was a manager with the A&P Grocery for 35 years. He started with A&P in Champaign, Ill. in 1934, and came to Greensburg in 1938. He retired in 1969. His hobby was woodworking.
On Jan. 8, 1941, he married Gladys Mangold and she survives; with a sister, Virginia Stanley, Lansing, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. Eight brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
The services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg, with the Rev. Robert Browning officiating.
Burial will be in the South Park Cemetery, Greensburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
