Henry was the son of Bernard Eseke and Sarah E. Spring Eseke. He was one of 8 children born to the Eseke family. He married Elizabeth Henrietta Gluesing in 1885 in Moline, Ill. He moved his family to Spokane, WA. around 1890. Life was very difficult for the family and they were barely able to make a living. There were 7 living children born to the family. They were Richard Dedrick, Louis Harry, Clifford Allen, an unk. male, Howard George, Mabel Kathleen, and Carl Cornelius, and Helen J. Eseke. On Henry's death certificate he is listed as Harry Bernard.
Mable Kathleen married Sidney Vivian Horn on June 24, 1916, she passed away on Apr. 29, 1986. Her FG # is 25190630 and she is buried in Seattle.
Henry worked for the Northern Pacific and Spokane and the Portland and Seattle RRs. as a conductor for 45 years. Four of his five sons became engineers.
I have put Henry's grandfather on findagrave even though he passed away in Germany. Henry's grandfather was Josef Johann Iseke FG #108378171. In this way researchers will have a little more information on the family. The name is still spelled Iseke in Germany and the Iseke's that settled in HI. still spell their name Iseke.
