On December 29, 1835, in Gibson, Indiana, Annie married Harris Bradford Hoover. Together they had thirteen children and they were, William Martin, James Polk, Elizabeth A, John Wesley, Thomas Bergeans, Andrew Jackson, Prudence Evelyn, Benjamin Sanford, Daniel Henry, Preston Brooks, Mary Eleanor, Mathias Lyle "Buster" and Yancy Lewis "Mike" Hoover.
They owned a plantation, according to family history, and had such problems after the Civil War. In 1867 the Hoovers packed up their family, in their wagons, and took a boat passage down the Mississippi to the port of Corpus Christi, Texas. They traveled to Sweet Home, Texas for a short time, finally settling in Williamson County, Texas. Harris and Anna had saved $50,000 in gold which they used to buy land and began the first cotton gin in Williamson County. Their five oldest sons fought in the Civil War and after they were released from confinement, they came to Texas as well.
On September 12, 1873, in Florence, Williamson County, Texas, Anna Newhouse Hoover passed away.
The information about the Hoover Plantation was written by Evelyn Parker Hess (2nd great granddaughter), passed down from her mother, Jewell Whittenberg Parker.
