CLAYTON FOWLER, 65
"Services for Clayton Fowler, 65, will be at Wheeler Chapel on March 28, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Floyd Cemetery. Rev. Hoyt Welch, assisted by Rev. Roy Mitchell, will officiate.
Mr. Fowler was born April 18, 1932 in House to Alene and Elgin E. Fowler. He died March 24 at Plains Regional Medical Center-Clovis. (New Mexico)
When Mr. Fowler was very small, the family moved to Dunlap, between Fort Sumner and Roswell. In 1936, they moved to Floyd where he lived until 1977. Since then, he had lived in Portales. He was well known in the community where he was a daily regular at the Norwest Bank hospitality room and the Senior Citizens Center.
He and his sister and brother-in-law, with whom he made his home the past several years, went weekly to the Floyd Senior Citizens Center to play dominoes on Thursday evening. He enjoyed household chores and working on his brother's dairy. He also loved to go to cattle sales where he was well known by the auctioneers, and the other regulars.
Mr. Fowler was survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Betty Fowler of Portales; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bertha and Lewis Gregory of Portales and Fayrene and John Peipelman of Houston, Texas; eight nieces and one nephew and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Portales.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Goldie Carlisle, who died in 1945.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Gore, Howard Miller, Shannon Lee, Shane Lee, Dwain Hill and Kelly Tivis.
Honorary pallbearers are all of his many friends."
