She was he Granddaughter of Robert Lewis, Jr. and Mary "Polly" Whittenburg Lewis, and she was the Great-Granddaughter of Robert Lewis & Sarah Cagle Lewis of "Lewis Mountain" in Marshall Co., AL.

Lila married A. Raymond Bales on June 14, 1927 in Clarksville, Red River Co., TX.

Lila was divorced at the time of her passing. She passed away at Wadley Hospital.
