Odessa T. Sandlin, 94 of Spring Hill, Fla., and formerly of Terre Haute died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 1996, in her residence. She was a retired teacher fro Vigo County School Corp. having taught at Rea School. She was born May 4, 1902, in Westville, Ill., to Frank H. Thomas and Lillie Etchison Thomas. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth O. Gallion of Terre Haute; three sons, Jock Wilson of Terre Haute, and James Sandlin and Ray Sandlin, both of Thailand; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Sandlin, on Sept. 12, 1993. She was an alumna of Indiana State University, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees. She was a member of Union Christian Church, Moose Lodge 1009, American Association of Retired Persons, Indiana State Teachers Association, and the Women's Club of Spring Hill. Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Callahan Funeral Home, with Mark Grayless officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 850 N. Meridian St., Suite 203, Indianapolis, Ind. 46204.
