GLEN ROCK Robert L. "Knobby" Allison, 83, died Saturday August 6, 2011, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Betty J. (Heyn) Allison. Following cremation by the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, all services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Allison was born on May 31, 1928, in Glen Rock, a son of the late Clair R. and Elsie M. (Meckley) Allison. He graduated in the Class of 1946 from Glen Rock High School and retired from AMP, Inc. where he was employed as a Tool & Die Machinist for many years. In 1949, Knobby signed a professional baseball contract with the New York Yankees and was assigned to pitch for Easton, Maryland team in the Class "A" Eastern Shore League and in 1950 played for Quincy, Ill in Class "B" III league. He also played for several local Glen Rock Baseball Teams. He leaves a son, Joe Allison of Glen Rock; a daughter, Kathy Meily of Jonestown; a grandson, Michael Meily; and a brother, Kenneth E. Allison of Glen Rock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Rock Athletic Association, c/o Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock, PA 17327.
