J. Fred Doerge died at 2:30 o'clock Sunday morning, August 20 at his residence in the Homer Oilfield. He was 67 years of age.
A retired production superintendent for the Gulf Oil Company, Mr. Doerge was born on October 5, 1894, in Joplin, Missouri. He had lived here for many years and was well known throughout this area.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 21, at 4 p.m. from the First Baptist church with Dr. V.L. McKee of Carthage, Texas, and Rev. Frank Dees, officiating. Interment was in the Arlington cemetery under the direction of the Davidson Funeral Home.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Lindsey of Rosenburg, Texas, and Mrs. Reuben Allison of Liberty, Texas; one sister, Mrs. W.C. Wells of Beaumont, Texas; three brothers, A.H. Doerge, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, D.C. Doerge, of Houston, Texas, and Dan Doerge of Washington, D.C.
Also surviving are four grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Dr. J.F. Gladney, Jr., Bernard Woodham, George Tigner, George Ford, H.C. McCalman, Philip Fincher, C.C. Austin, and J.R. Oakes.
