Emma Jane Rice Cooper, 73, died at 3 PM Wednesday [Jan. 7, 1970] in the Lesley Nursing Home at Buck Creek, where she had been a patient since Feb. 1, 1969. She had been in failing health three years. Born at Clymers in Cass County, she was reared at Logansport and came to Lafayette in 1918. She married Charles Cooper in 1916 at Logansport, Indiana; he survives. Mrs. Cooper attended Logansport schools and was a member of the Macabee Lodge and was past president of Longlois Elementary School PTA.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, Keith Edwin Cooper, Jack E. Cooper, both of Lafayette, and Robert D. Cooper of Brookston; two daughters, Tenah Sue Rauch of Seattle, WA, and Mrs. Max [ Mary Ann] Warren of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Alice Adams of Frankfort; a brother, Capt. Harrison S. Rice of Leesburg, FL; a half-brother, Elmer Rice of Houston, TX; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Bernard Charles Cooper, in October 1967.
