Funeral services for John S. Coan, were held on Dec 12, at the Carl Edmonds Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN. Mr. Coan, 64, R.#1 Box 270 Chesterton, IN., died at Memorial Hospital, in Mich. City, IN.
Mr. Coan was a screen house operator for the Manley Sand Co., and a member of the Teamster Union. He was born in Danville, IL., the son of Mr. & Mrs. James Coan. He was married to Hazel Williams of Gerogetown, Jan. 5, 1924.
Surviving is his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Jane Ballatore, LaPorte, Mrs Ola Mae Simpson, and Mrs. Louise Keppen, Chesterton; four sons, Lindy & Chester, of Chesterton, Charles, of Jackson twp., and James of Lancaster, CA. He also leave 18 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Edith Crum, Chesterton; Mrs. Lavenia Charlson, LaPorte, and Mrs. Lily Weaver, in WI. One son Larry, preceded him in death when he was struck by a train.
