William Ambrose, Stephen Jared, and Charles Henry were sons born to Ambrose Brookmire and Maria Fidelia Henry Corey. Ambrose was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Ruth Tanner Corey of PA, NY, WI, then MO. Obviously they moved a lot.
1900-1904 Stephen studied for the ministry at the Rochester NY Roch Theo Sem.
Abt 1902 Stephen married Edith Corrine Webster, daughter of Melvin A. and Julia A. Webster.
Their marriage was blessed with Helen D., Stephen Maxwell, Julia Edith and John Pershing Corey.
He served for many years in the Cincinnati northern Kentucky ministries. He also served in overseas missionary ministries, and had traveled around the world stopping off in Flagstaff to vist his younger brother, Charles Henry Cory on one trip. He had written and published over ten books on his missionary work. He also served as School Principal for 10 years College of the Bible Ministry in CA.
He certainly left a valuable legacy behind.

St. Louis--Stephen Jared Corey, 89, retired president of The United Christian Missionary Society and of The College of the Bible, died Oct 11 in a convalescent hospital at Carmichael, California, following a two-year period of declining health.
Memorial services, held in the Arden Christian Church, Sacramento, October 14, were led by his pastor, K. Dean Echols. Cremation followed. Surviving Dr. Corey are his wife, Edith, and daughter Julie E., of Sacramento; Dr. Stephen Maxwell, former dean of Teachers College, Columbia University, now of Miami, Florida; and John P., State social services worker of Sacramento.
Born in Rolla, Mo., April 28, 1873, Dr. Corey received his A.B. degree from the University of Nebraska, the B.D. from Colgate-Rochester and held honorary degrees from Translyvania College and Culver-Stockton College.
Following a pastorate in Rochester, N.Y., from 1899 to 1902 and three years as secretary of the New York Christian Missionary Society, he began a 33-year period of service to mission causes, first as as foreign secretary and finallt as president of The United Christian Missionary Society, from 1930 to 1938.
He was president of The College of the Bible from 1938 to 1945, and acting president for a period in 1947-48. For an eight year period during his Lexington, Ky., residence he served as Protestant chaplin at the U.S. Public Service Hospital.
In 1919 Dr. Corey was one of the organizers of the International Missionary Council in Geneva. He was also an active board member of the Foreign Missions Conference of North America, one of the agencies which merged into the National Council of Churches.
A world traveler, he was widely known for his interpretations of the Geneva, Jerusalem and Montevideo missionary meetings, both on the ? and in his several books.
