Edward Everheart Bowen, Sr. was the son of James William Bowen and Savilla Nethers. He married Bessie Henrietta Compton in 1927. Bessie was born on 17 mar. 1908,the daughter of Eppa Compton and Maida Settle."EDWARD E. BOWEN, 48, SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS. Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, April 5, from the family section in the Masonic cemetery for Edward Everheart Bowen, 48 years of age, who died Tuesday, April 8, at University of Virginia Hospital, following a long period of declining health. Reverend Paul Heins of Christ Church, Brandy, conducted the graveside service, and pallbearers included Willie Nichols, Keith Abbott, Charles Humphries, William Mitchell, Howard Newlon and C.E. Coates. Son of the late James William Bowen and Savilla Bowen of Brandy Station, deceased, was employed at Rochester Ropes, Inc. until about a year ago when he was forced to retire because of impaired health. Surviving are his daughter, Miss Katherine Bowen, Culpeper; and six brothers, Warren Bowen, Brandy; Lucian Bowen, Washington, D.C.; Nethers Bowen, Fredericksburg; Arnold Bowen, Bladensburg, MD; Kermit Bowen, Bellmeade, Maryland; and Roger Bowen, Sherwood, Maryland."
