Mildred "Millie" Viola Barnes Moon, 64, of RD 1, Volant, died at 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 6, 1995, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in Butler County on Feb. 6, 1931, to Braden Everett and F. Ethel Stevenson Barnes. She married LeRoy A. Moon on Sept. 3, 1948. He preceded her in death. The graduate of Plain Grove High School was a homemaker and a Protestant. Survivors include three sons, LeRoy "Butch" Moon, of Stoneboro, and Eugene H. and Steven W. Moon of Plain Grove Township; two daughters, Mary Patton of Plain Grove Township, and Leslie Ackers of Gibsonville, N.C.; three sisters, Vera DeGregory of Grove City, Dorothy Lyons of Plain Grove Township, and Ruby Bodien of Mercer; two brothers, Harry Barnes of Butler, and Art Barnes of Slippery Rock; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Kathy Bowers, and Martha and Nancy Moon; one son, Benjamin Moon; and two sisters, Hazel Stiles and Thelma Noble. Calling hours for Mrs. Moon will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Smith Funeral Home of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway. A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Reed Rogers of the Drake Alliance Church No. 2 Mine will officiate. Interment will be in North Plain Grove Cemetery.
