Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Peterson and the Rev. Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hildebrand was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Goldsboro, N.C., the daughter of the late Richard Furman and Lucia Mae Gue Hatchell. She was married to the late Jacob Basil Hildebrand Jr. Doris graduated from Orangeburg High School and attended Furman University. She was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She worked many years at The Hat Box and later became the owner. She will be remembered for her distinct voice, the love, special times and laughter shared with family and friends. She never met a stranger, a true Southern lady and always the entertainer.
She was predeceased by sisters Mildred H. Patrick and Enda H. Livesay, and brother Richard Furman Hatchell Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail H. Delaney and husband Gary of Orangeburg and Frances H. Limehouse of Mount Pleasant; her sister, Edith H. Rogers and husband Bobby of North Augusta; grandchildren Michael Delaney and wife Amy of Orangeburg, Andy Delaney and wife Courtney of Columbia, Sarah D. Latimer and husband Jeff of Tallahassee, Fla., Joseph Delaney and wife Leslie of Lexington, and Frances Porter Delaney of Columbia. Left with fond memories are great-grandchildren Campbell, Mary Legare, John Andrew, Blair, Charlee, Max, Carlysle, Callie, Megan, Allison, Cameron, McKenna and Walker. Also surviving are special nieces and nephews.
Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, Orangeburg, is in charge of arrangements.
