He attended District #52 in Stanton County, Clarkson High School, and received his GED while in the service. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1963 - 1965 achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5 and receiving the Purple Heart. Following the service Stanley returned to Stanton County where he married Mary Venteicher on September 21, 1968 in Norfolk, Nebraska and farmed until 1972. He then worked for Norfolk Construction, Norfolk Iron & Metal before moving to Colorado where he was a production supervisor for Weaver Potato Chip Factory. In 1983 he moved to Columbus and has worked for the Platte County Roads as a heavy equipment operator since. He was a member of the VFW #3704, Eagles Club #1834 and Hartman Post #84 American Legion. He loved fishing, polka music and having a good time.
