Decie Hickerson, 76, of 104 McClelland Court, daughter of the late Everett Shirrell and Sarah Russell Shirrell, died at 10:50 a.m., March 9, 1983, at the Taylor County Hospital. She was a member of the Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Oscar E. Hickerson September 9, 1924. He preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1957. To this union two daughters and three sons were born: Edward Hickerson preceded his mother in death July 22, 1974 and Damon W. Hickerson died March 28, 1951. Surviving are: Hollin Hickerson of Tucson, Ariz., Bernice Shanklin of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Eyvone Mardis of Prospect, Ky. Besides her children, she is survived by five granddaughters and one grandson, Joyce Hickerson and Steve Hickerson, both of Tucson, Ariz., Michele Mardis and Marchetta Mardis, both of Prospect, Ky., Evalean White of Campbellsville, and Sharon Perry of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Gladys Lemons and Hallie M. Sallee, both of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. March 13 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Howard Beauman. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.
