Pfc. Damon Hickerson Killed; Is County's First War Casualty
Taylor County's first casualty of the Korean War was reported yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hickerson received a telegram stating their son, Pfc. Damon Hickerson, was killed in action March 28. The 18 year old paratrooper had been in Korea six months. He entered service March 2, 1950 and received training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Benning, Georgia.

Body of County's First War Dead Is Returned Home
The body of Damon Hickerson, Taylor County's first Korean War dead, will arrive in Lebanon at 10 a.m. today and will be met by an honor guard from the Campbellsville American Legion Post. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 4, at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge. A full military funeral is planned. The 18 year old paratrooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hickerson, was killed in action March 28. He had been in Korea only six months and had entered the Army almost a year before, on March 2, 1950

Funeral Services Held For County's First Korean Dead
Funeral services for Pfc. Damon W. Hickerson, Taylor County's first Korean War dead, were held Sunday, November 4 at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Full military honors were provided by a color guard from Fort Knox. Several local American Legion members acted as honorary pallbearers. Pfc. Hickerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hickerson, was killed in Korea March 28. He was 18 years old, and a member of the Muldraugh's Hill Baptist Church. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Edward Hickerson of Taylor County; Hollin Hickerson of Oldham County; Miss Bernice and Miss Eyvonne Hickerson, Taylor County. Many other relatives and friends also survive. Pfc. Hickerson entered the Army March 2, 1950 and had been in Korea six months before his death.
