She was born May 29, 1944 in Buckner, MO, a daughter of of Corby and Leota (Reynolds) Barnard. She was a member of the United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Junior Barnard, Ford Barnard and Dolan Barnard; and one sister, Hazel Murphey.
Lavada is survived by her husband Burl Simmons to whom she was married 45 years and her daughter, Melissa Simmons; four brothers, Ed Barnard of Avoca, AR, John Barnard of Seliman, MO, Reese Barnard of Blue Springs, MO and Gene Barnard of Hindsville, AR; several Nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:00am at the Blackstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, AR. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Rev. Bobby Young officiating the service with committal service to follow at Friendship Cemetery.
