Mrs. Allora B. Hoye, 90, a resident of Wood River, died early Monday at a Gibbon nursing home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River with the Rev. Dwight Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Mrs. Hoye was born Aug. 23, 1882 in Muskinggum county in Ohio, the daughter of Fred and Alvira Mitchell Babel. She married John Hoye Aug. 19, 1904, at Wood River where they made their home and operated a pharmacy for 39 years. He died in 1949. She was active in community affairs and was a member of the Wood River Womens Club and of the Wood River United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors and the Wood River Library Board. She moved to the Gibbon nursing home several years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elvira McWilliams of North Platte; one son, Gerald of Wood River, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Olive Highland of Seattle and one brother, W. W. Babel of Wood River. She was also preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
