She was born in Henderson County, a daughter of the late Mac Blackwell and Nellie Kate Nease Blackwell, and had been an area resident all of her life.
She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her greatest joy came from her family and her love for the Lord. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Blackwell and Arvil Blackwell.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Sherman of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mary Alice Capps and her husband, Steve, of Saluda; a son, Jerry Sherman and his wife, Patricia, of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Jimmy MacDonough, Jennifer Raines, Sherri Tilley, Michael Sherman and Tony Capps; seven great-grandchildren; six brothers, Curtis Blackwell of West Palm Beach, Fla., Luther Blackwell of Martinsville, Va., Seagle Blackwell, Dan Blackwell, L.B. Blackwell and John Blackwell, all of Hendersonville.
