Esther Irene Pierson, 86, of 2909 Beverly Drive, Urbandale, died of cancer Sunday, December 11,1994 at home. Services were at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 1994 at McLaren's Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery.

Esther Holloway was born in Lamoni, Iowa to Leonard George Holloway and Flora Blanche Henderson Holloway. On 23 July 1930 Esther married Donly Alven Pierson. To this union, two children were born: Donna and James.

Esther lived in Urbandale 38 years. Esther retired after teaching in the Des Moines Public Schools and was a member of Daughters of the American Colonists, Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century and Mayflower Descendants. She was a member of the Reorganized church of the Latter Day Saints.

Surviving at the time of her death were her husband, Donly, a son, Jim of Deerwood, Minnesota; a daughter, Donna Gray of Urbandale; a brother, Raymond Holloway of Independence, Missouri; a sister, Vivian Bisdorf of Moline, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
