Donly Alven Pierson, 95, of Dallas Center died of pneumonia Saturday at Spurgeon Manor there. Private Graveside services will be held Tuesday at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Mr. Pierson was born in West Point, Nebraska, and had lived in Urbandale 32 years before moving to Dallas Center six years ago. He was a retired cabinet-making teacher with the Des Moines school system. Besides woodworking and teaching that art, Don was a genealogist.
He is survived by a son James of Brainerd, Minnesota; a daughter, Donna Gray of Dallas Center; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther. They were married 23 July 1930.
