Mr. Pierson was born in West Point, Nebraska, and had lived in Urbandale 32 years before moving to Dallas Center six years ago. He was a retired cabinet-making teacher with the Des Moines school system. Besides woodworking and teaching that art, Don was a genealogist.
He is survived by a son James of Brainerd, Minnesota; a daughter, Donna Gray of Dallas Center; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Esther. They were married 23 July 1930.
