Mrs. Nettie L. Pryor Woodring, 88, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, Pa., and formerly of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the nursing home.
She was the wife of Hiram Carson Woodring, who died Oct. 25, 1955. They were married June 16, 1933.
Born Sept. 1, 1905 in Smithsburg, she was a daughter of the late Theophilus and Rosa Mae Kline Pryor.
Mrs. Woodring lived her early years in the Smithsburg area and then moved to Waynesboro, Pa. In 1956 she moved to the Hagerstown area and in 1987 she became a resident of the Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home, Boonsboro. In April 1993 she became a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home.
She was a member of Grace Brethren Church, Hagerstown, the Keenagers Club of the church, and the AARP.
Surviving are four sons,
Richard C. Woodring of Augusta, Ga.,
Franklin P. Woodring of Boonsboro,
Lee D. Woodring of Waynesboro, and
Deane C. Woodring of Hagerstown;
two sisters,
Mary Beans, a resident of Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home, Boonsboro, and
Ruth Kline of Smithsburg;
two brothers,
Albert Pryor of Smithsburg and
Maurice Pryor of Boonsboro;
10 grandchildren; and
two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Woodring was preceded in death by
five sisters,
Lillie Delauter, in 1936;
Ina Bumbaugh, in 1976;
Vera Willard, in 1987;
May Kline, in 1988; and
Susie Early, in 1992; and
three brothers,
Calvin Pryor, in 1902;
Edgar Pryor, in 1959, and
Harry Pryor in 1974.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at the Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Bruce R. Woolever and Mrs. Woodring's son, Richard C. Woodring, officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
