Florene Roberts, 98, of Waco, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013, at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Monday, January 28, at Oakwood Cemetery.

Florene was born in Kosse, Texas, to the late Charles and Mary Smith. She married Ernest Roberts on January 8, 1933. Florene worked at J. M. Wood Manufacturing for over 25 years and in 1964, Florene and Ernest started Roberts Used Cars. She worked by his side until they retired in 1981. Florene was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and a member of Timbercrest Baptist Church for over 25 years. She loved sewing, working outdoors and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florene was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 1993; 15 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son, Ernest Roberts Jr. and wife, Betty, of Decatur; daughter, Betty Mayfield Robinson, of Waco; grandchildren, Michele Monsey and husband, Dale, of Axtell, Kay Lynn Day and husband, Paul, of Maypearl, and Kendra Schuring and husband, Bob, of Rhome; sons, Paul Mayfield and wife, Katherine, of Austin, and Michael Jones; of Waco; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances White, Mamie Leftwich and Barbara Ingram, all of Waco, and Tranquilla Malone, of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
