John passed away July 9, 2006, with his loving wife of 61 years, Betty, by his side after a courageous battle with Dementia with Lewy Bodies. John is also survived by daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Barry Gil, of San Jose, California; son and daughter in-law, Gary and Julie Grimm, of Phoenix, Arizona; and grandchildren, Marty and Angela Gil, of Burlingame, California, and Christina Gil, of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother, George; sisters, Martha, Dorothy and Betty; and many nieces and nephews.

John was the son of W.G and Dora Grimm, pioneers of the Stillaguamish Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, W.T. Grimm.
Born and raised in Arlington, Washington, John served in World War II in the 15th Air Force. He was a graduate of Washington State University and enjoyed a long career in the dairy industry. John and Betty moved the family to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1957 and have lived the last 27 years in Concord and Martinez. He was an active member in their church and belonged to Acacia Lodge, F&AM. After retirement, John spent many years as a docent on the liberty ship, Jeremiah O'Brien, was a leader of their church seniors hiking group, and an active member of the Martinez Swingers Square Dance Club. His quiet humor and loving spirit will be greatly missed.
