Shirley M. Shughart, 70, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at her home.
She was born on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 1936, in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late George and Hilda (Wolf) Peffer.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She retired from Forest Park Health Center in Carlisle, where she was a dietary aide. She was a member of Newville Assembly of God and she enjoyed gardening, flowers and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Peffer.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald E. Shughart; her sons, Lee Shughart and his wife, Kelly, of Newville, John Shughart of Carlisle and Steve Shughart of Newville; a daughter, Wendi Shipp and her husband, Donald, of Mechanicsburg; a grandson, Cody Shughart of Newville; four brothers, Wayne Peffer, Ralph Peffer and Marlin Peffer, all of Carlisle, and Lloyd Peffer of Newville; her sisters, Evelyn Bear, Betty Garman and Doris Sarber, all of Carlisle, also Joyce Stine and Lois Myers, both of Mechanicsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Jeffrey W. Kettering officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the funeral home.
