Funeral services were held for Mrs. Viola Calhoun, age 80, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 20, from the Liberty Presbyterian Church in Taylor County, with the Rev. A. H. Gregory officiating, assisted by the Rev. Calvin Mouser. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Gaines, Earnest Rodgers, Willie Montgomery, Dennis Abel, Ralph Wilson and Earl Smith. Mrs. Calhoun died at her home near Roachville in Green County at 8:50 a.m., Friday, April 18, after an extended illness. She was a member of the Summer Shade Methodist Church in Green County. Mrs. Calhoun was born April 3, 1878, in Green County, the daughter of the late Frank Henry and Annie Vaughn Henry. She united in marriage to Mr. Lawrence M. Calhoun in 1903 who preceded her in death in 1936. To this union five sons and five daughters were born. Surviving are William of Taylor County, Richard and Shelby both of Green County, Mrs. Percy Cox and Mrs. Alvin Thresher of this city, Mrs. John Newton and Mrs. Jim Colvin both of Louisville, Mrs. Henry Colvin of Marion County; 29 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
