Winfred Elias Barron age 88 of Athens, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Decatur General Hospital. Mr. Barron was born August 7, 1924 in Limestone County to James E. Barron and Classie Crowe.
Services for Mr. Barron are Friday, January 4, 2013 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with Bro. Charles Thompson officiating.
Mr. Barron was a member of Tanner Church of Christ. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Barron of Athens; daughter, Daphne Hodges and husband Marlin of Athens; sons, Freddy Barron and wife Debra and Mike Barron and wife Tammy both of Athens; sister, Jo Ann Davis of Athens; grandchildren, LeAnn Barron, Andrea Menefee, Brooke Barron, Ben Barron and Haley Hays; great-grandchildren, Blythe Menefee and Aiden Menefee.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Barron; one brother; three sisters.
Pallbearers are Dustin Menefee, Ben Barron, Landon Hays, John Stockton, Steven Lovell and Walton Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Max Arnold, Phillip Barron, Mark Guzzo and Mike Craig.
