THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 18 Sep 1980. 'L. Wesley Sheffield, 54, of Porter, formerly of Lamar County, died 10 Sep 1980 in Spring Branch Memorial Hospital in Houston. Funeral Services were held Friday afternoon in Humble.
Mr. Sheffield was born in Lamar County on 13 Apr 1926. He was a retired switchman for the Southern Pacific railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sheffield of Porter; two daughters, Vickie Pierce and Shirley Sheffield, both of Porter; a brother, George Sheffield of Houston; and two sisters, Exa Mae Fortner of Bogata and Juanita Johnson of Dallas.'
