Esther K. Penner, 91, of the Sarah Todd Memorial Home passed away Sunday, May 6 at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 1, 1920 in Caprivi (North Middleton Twp.) to the late George Alvy & Clara Edna Cornman King.
Esther graduated from Carlisle High School Class of 1937. She was a member of the Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church and the AARP. Esther worked for Masland Carpets, retiring 1982.
Surviving is her husband, Lloyd E. Penner Sr., married since Jan. 1, 1938. She is also survived by her son, Lloyd E. Penner Jr. and wife Patricia W. of Mt. Holly Springs; two daughters, Dorothy P. Morrison of Mechanicsburg and Marjorie P. Burkhart and husband Mark M. of Dover; three grandchildren, Lynne Boyd & husband Darryl, Amy Penner, and Jon Burkhart and wife Tennille; and two great-grandchildren, Elysia Ulrich and husband Dan and Shannon Boyd. In addition, Esther is survived by two brothers, George L. King of Newville and Charles E. King of Carlisle. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joanne Louise Penner and her grandson, Douglas K. Morrison.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Holly Springs United Methodist Church, 202 Butler St., Mt. Holly Springs, with the Rev. Ed Alwine officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurmment will be in the Church of God Cemetery, North Middleton Twp. at the convenience of the family.
