Frank G. Morton was born on January 8,
1892 at Frankfort, Kansas and died in
Marysville, Kansas on June 28, 1933.
He was married to Ruth Hunt on December
4, 1915 at the Methodist parsonage in
Frankfort, Kansas. Since that time the
family has resided in Marshall County
with the exception of five years in which
Mr. Morton acted as Superintendent of the
Riley County Home. From Riley county
they moved to a farm near Bigelow, Kansas
where they lived one year going to Marys-
ville on January 15 of this year where he
was Superintendent of the Marshall County
Farm.
Mr. Morton was found dead in the northeast
corner of the Marysville Cemetery at 11:30
a.m. on Wednesday, June 28. His throat had
Cut by a sharp instrument, believed to have
been a razor, as Mr. Morton’s razor cannot
be located at his home.
Mr. Morton, who recently resigned his
position as Superintendent of the County
farm, and was moving this coming Friday,
left his home this morning at about 7:00
a.m. and was found dead in the cemetery,
which is about a half mile form his home.
the County Coroner R.C. Gutherie, who
was called to the scene of the tragedy,
pronounced it a case of suicide.
Besides his wife, Ruth and four children,
Lester, Clayton, John D and Carol, he
is survived by his aged mother Mrs.
Alonzo Morton; three brothers, E.L.
Morton, Kansas City, Kansas, Charles
Morton and Fred Morton, Frankfort,
Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Van-
Nortwick, Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Eva
Jackson, Vliets, Kansas and Mrs. Mary
VanNotwick, Marysville, Kansas.
Funeral services were held and burial was
in the Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort,
Kansas.
