Jennie Backstrom Perkins, 102, of Walnut Street, Collinsburg, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 1996, at home. She was born April 2, 1894, in Collinsburg, a daughter of the late August and Hannah Bergren Backstrom. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in West Newton. She had worked at Sweeney's Restaurant in Rostraver Township.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Duerr; her second husband, Cecil Perkins; a daughter, Edith Kargle Warden; four brothers, George, Harry, Bill and Elmer Backstrom; and three sisters, Ellen Blumling, Olga Backstrom and Ethel Orr.

She is survived by two daughters, Hazel Duerr Kohley and Helen Perkins Kargle, both of Collinsburg; a son-in-law, Paul Warden of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three grandchildren, Joyce Antis, Karl Kargle and Terri Rubosky; four great-grandchildren, David and Kerri Antis, Dawn and Haley Rubosky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the RICHARD F. DODSON FUNERAL HOME, 213 Main St., West Newton, from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Allen Riethmiller officiating.

Interment will follow in the West Newton Cemetery.
