Joe Merle Allen was born July 26, 1932 in Lee County , Mississippi . His parents were Will Anderson Allen and Mittie Lou Priddy Allen . His paternal grandparents were Charlie Frank Allen and Lonie Belle Fowler Allen and his maternal grandparents were James F. Priddy and Carrie B. McCarty Priddy . As a young man he served in the United States Army from Sept. 23, 1953 to Sept. 22 ,1955 . His career was in construction . He and his first wife Sue Butler had one child "Bobby' before they divorced and later " Bobby " was renamed Robert J. Lo Bianco after Sue remarried . For a number of years Joe was married to Irene before they divorced . Later Joe married Polly who became his widow on June 11 , 1984 .
