Amos B. Newswanger, 71, a retired farmer of
Stevens R1, died Tuesday evening at the
Ephrata Community Hopital after a long illness.

A native of East Earl Twp., he was a West Cocalico Twp. resident for the past 32 years. He was the son of Peter and Lydia Burkhart Newswanger and he was the husband of Lydia Reinhart Newswanger.

He was a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church.

Surviving besides his wife are six sons, the
Rev. Walter R.Newswanger of Danville R5; Paul R., at home; Raymond R. and Lester R. of Pinegrove R2; Amos Jr. of Pinegrove R3 and Robert R.of Quarryville; three daughters, Elsie, wife of Raymond E. Martin of Lititz R2; Edith, wife of Leonard Seibel of Orwigsburg and Anna, wife of the Rev. Ira Z. Ginder of Denver
R2; 43 grandchildren; seven great grandchild-
ren; a sister, Mrs. Anna Martin of East Earl R1, and two brothers, John B. of Havertown and Jacob S. of Blue Ball.
