Gladys was born on Oct. 26, 1904 in Cleveland, Ohio and was the 6th of nine children of Frank & Eva Duesler. She had siblings Joe, Daisy, Allen, Isabel, George, Mary & John
She graduated from St. Edwards HS in Cleveland in 1922.
She was 22 when she married Stanley Schaefer on June 29, 1926. Thier only daughter Carolyn was born in Oct. 1933.
Gladys was widowed in 1936 at the young age of 32 when Stan died in a diving accident from a broken neck on July 13, 1936.
She worked as a stenographer for 25 years in the Recreaton Dept. of Cleveland City Hall and retired June 1, 1966.
Gladys was living with her sisters Isabel, Daisy and Mary in Ft. Lauderdale when she died from heart failure at the age of 72 on April 6, 1977 and is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brookpark, Ohio in Sec. 32, Lot 1236, Grave 1.
Gladys was 5' 5" tall with dark brown hair & brown eyes. She loved to bowl in her early years and won many trophies. Also crocheted and did knitting and had four grandchildren.
