Joseph Rommie Whistle, Jr., 56, died Wednesday, April 25, 1990, near Delta, Mo.
Son of the late Joseph Rommie Whistle, Sr. and Mrs. Ruth Gilmer Whistle, he was born March 7, 1934 at Bragg City, Mo.
In 1953 at Corinth, Miss., he was united in marriage to Mary Smith.
Rom, as he was known, worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the Cotton Division.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Whistle, of Steele, Mo.; a son, Keith Whistle, of Hernando, Miss.; one daughter, Miss Rommy Whistle, of Hernando; a grandson, Kyle Whistle, of Hernando; and four sisters, Mrs. Sue Johnson of Dell, Ark., Mrs. Carolyn Brown of Steele, Mrs. Pat Waldrop of West Memphis, Ark. and Mrs. Peg Hastings of Louisville, Ky.
Graveside services were held Friday, April 27, 1990 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, with Rev. David Powell officiating. John W. German Funeral Home was in charge.
Pallbearers were Bud Whitener, Jimmy Leak, Mike Graham, Steve Hitchens, Jerry McKay, Robbie Seals, Denny Hale, and Howard Smith.
