Francis H. "Bob" Gates, age 93, Sartell, MN died peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Country Manor Nursing Home, Sartell, MN Funeral services were held May 25, 2002 at Graham United Methodist Church, Rice, MN. Burial was at North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.

Francis Gates was born October 30, 1908 in Langola Township, Benton County, MN to Alfred H. and Olive (Flint) Gates. Francis graduated from the University of Minnesota Agricultural School in 1929. He married Irma Perry on August 12, 1933 in Rice, MN. He operated a dairy farm in Benton County, MN. Francis was a registered Holstein breeder, a member of the Minnesota Holstein Assn., secretary/treasurer of the St. Cloud Area Holstein Assn., past president of the Benton/Stearns County DHIA, a director of the First State Bank of Rice, former member of the Rice and District 15 School Boards, past president of the Benton County Fair Board, an active member and past trustee of Graham United Methodist Church.

He was survived by his wife, Irma; 3 sons, 3 daughters, sister, Dorothy; 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
