George Nathaniel Ashmore moved from Tennessee to Texas with his parents and siblings about 1892. They settled in the community of Manor, and there George remained for most of his life. He ran a livery stable in Manor for many years, where he provided stabling for horses and mules and rented buggies and wagons to those who needed them. He also ran a freight service for items that came into Manor by rail.
George Ashmore never married.
