Mrs. P. J. Morton entertained the young folks with a party Saturday night. Those present were:
Misses La Rue Stout, Goldia Pearl Shelton, Martha Lacy, Geneva Hill, Vera Smith and Dora Morton. Paul Pinkerton,(sic) Gailey and Quinten Moad, Cleo Walker, Seth Stout, Pete Lacy, Wineford Shelton, G. E. Castleberry, and H. M. Hill. Refreshments of punch and cookies were served by the hostess.

Mrs. Nomah Morton passed away at her home in Elk City this morning (Thursday) at 5:25.

Services will be conducted Friday, May 18, in the Church of God church in Elk City. Burial will be in Red Hill cemetery, here.

Held May 18


Services for Mrs. Nomah Morton, Elk City, were held at the Church of God, Elk City, 3 p.m. Friday, May 18, with Rev. R. A. Robold, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Morton was born July 31, 1888, in Mason County, Texas, and died at her home on Thursday, May 17, after a 10-week illness, however, she had been in ill health since 1951.

She was married P. J. Morton at Hammon on December 24, 1905 and had been a resident of the state since she was two years old. Her family first settled in Oklahoma near Antioch in Grady county. They moved to the Cheyenne and Arapaho country in 1900 and to Elk City in 1947. She was a member of the Church of God and the Eastern Star lodge at Hammon.

Survivors are four sons. E. B. Morton, and Kenneth Morton, Elk City; Herbert Morton, Elk City; and Orvil Morton, Hammon; a daughter, Mrs. Doradean Neal, Oklahoma City.

Also two sisters, Mrs Laura Deason, Hayward, Calif.; two brothers Newt and Huston Turner of Hammon. Four grandchildren, Gerald and Terry Morton and Janet and Cegail Neal.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1931 and a son, Clifford, who was killed in the South Pacific in 1945 in World War II.

Burial was in Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, with Martin-Hullum funeral home directing arrangements.
