STATESBORO, Ga. — Mrs. Neva Loree' Newton Akins, age 94, died Monday, November 12, 2012, at Brown's Health and Rehabilitation, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was the daughter of the late William and Lois Woods Newton. She worked as a seamstress for many years with Mary Dell Styles and Cari Classics. Mrs. Akins was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford Akins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Arnold Ray and Bunny Akins and Gary Akins; two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Tommy Lennon of Statesboro; three sons and daughters-in-law, Delton and Irene Akins, Herman and Sherri Akins and Randy and Sandra Akins, all of Statesboro; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Steve Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Akins' grandsons.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Brown's Health and Rehabilitation and Ogeechee Area Hospice for the love and care that Mrs. Akins received.
