Samuel Staggs, a well known farmer in the Byron neighborhood, died at the home of his son, Edgar Staggs, on Thursday morning of last week. He has been in poor health for sometime. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Byron Wesleyan Church in charge of Rev. WJ Seekins. The WHS boys' quartet sang. Burial in Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Staggs was the son of Abraham & Rachel Algood Staggs and wass born in Clark County on Sept 10, 1858. In 1885, he was married to Sarah H. Young. Five children survive: Edgar and Abraham of Byron; Mrs. Grant Taylor of Yeddo; James T. Staggs of Cates and Grace Staggs of Indianapolis.
