Mary was the daughter of Dr. John Atwood Tomlinson and his wife Eliza Morris Thompson.
She married Abraham Hite Bowman on October 3, 1843. Their first child died in infancy, but they had 8 children who lived to adulthood: Howard Mitchum, John Atwood, Edward Stanley, Lida Morris, Anna Worthington, Mary Clifford, Lucie Garvin & Hite D. Bowman.
Mary died on March 13, 1876 at "Lynnwood".
