Blanche LaBelle Porter was born in Cass County, Iowa, in the Reno area on November 20, 1907, the daughter of Raymond and Rosie Blanche (Cannon) Porter. She grew up in rural Cass County where she attended grade school, later attending high school two years in Cumberland and two years in Atlantic, where she was a 1927 graduate. She then attended Corning Teachers College where she graduated in 1929, and she then taught for several years.

On April 22, 1931, she was married to Chester Dilley at Grant, Iowa. They farmed at different farms in Adair and Cass Counties until retiring to Wiota in 1968. Blanche had been a resident of the Adair Community Health Center for the past eight months. She had been a 4-H leader in the Eureka Center area for several years, and taught Sunday School for several years and had been a member of the Wiota Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Bernard and his wife, Maryln of Carpenterville, Illinois, and Arnold and his wife, Audrey, of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Carol Dilley, Michael Dilley, Jeffrey Dilley, James Dilley and Desiree Dilley. Also by one brother, Arlie Porter of Harlan, Iowa; three sisters, Vallie Arnburg of Atlantic, Lillian Riley of Missouri Valley and Irene Smith of Eagle Grove, Minnesota; nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and one brother, Carl Porter.

Interment: Newlons Grove Cemetery, Cumberland, Iowa.
