CUMBERLAND YOUTH DIES WHILE WORKING IN NORTH DAKOTA
Carl A. Porter, 19, of Cumberland, died yesterday morning at 10:30 in a hospital at Carrington, North Dakota, after being taken ill while working in the Dakota harvest fields. Porter died following an operation at the Carrington hospital. He left Cumberland for the northwest three weeks ago yesterday.
Porter is survived by his father, Ray Porter, a brother and four sisters. The brother is Arlie Porter of Riverdale, Nebraska and the sisters are Rose Irene Porter, who lives in Minnesota, and Blanche, Lillian, and Vallie Porter, all of Atlantic.
The body will arrive here tomorrow evening at 9:15 and will be taken to the Earl Porter home south of Cumberland. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the Reno Methodist Episcopal church. Burial will be in the Reno Methodist cemetery.
