Death Takes Pioneer Monday Night
Death came on Monday evening, May 4, to Mrs. Margaret (Reinkens) Askew following an illness of five days. She had been a patient in a Montesano nursing home for the past four years.
Mrs. Askew was born in Nordstrand, Germany, on December 7, 1880, and came to the United States with her family when she was nine years old.
Their first home in the United States was in the Wynooche Valley. They later moved to Minnesota for a few years, but returned to make their permanent home on the Wynooche. In 1905, Margaret was wed to Parker Askew, and they, too, established a farm on the Wynooche where they resided until 1955 when they sold the property and retired.
