This district lost another pioneer resident with the death of John Jacob "Grandpa" Reinkens, 92, born in Germany, who came to the United States in 1889, settling on a farm in the Wynooche Valley. Mr. Reinkens was married in Germany to Miss Catherine Margaret Metzen, who died here in 1928, two days after their son, John, was killed in an automobile accident. Another son, Alfonso, was killed while serving in France in World War I, an adopted daughter Mrs George Peterson, died here many years ago, and one daughter died as a child before the family left Germany.
Mr. Reinkens had been blind for ten years, but had been in good health up to about three weeks prior to his death, when he developed an infection in his foot. His death, however, was due to his advanced age.
Surviving children include Louis R., Mossy Rock; Bernard, Pasco; Ernest, Gold Hill, Ore; Tony, Montesano; Jacob, Satsop; Mrs. Mary Larson, Mrs. Edward Valentine, Mrs. Parker Askew and Mrs Harry Carter, Montesano; and Mrs. I.O.
