Vernon J. Winger. 78. 1804 Hogeboom Ave. died Saturday at the Eau Claire County Center of Care. He was born in Eau Claire and married Astid E. Nygaard Aug. 30. 1941. at Stillwater, Minn. He was a salesman for Ed Phillips & Sons for 40 years, retiring in 1969. Survivors include his wife; a son Dale of Eau Claire; a daughter. Marjorie Hamilton of Hiwasse, Ark.; three brothers, Wayne of rural Chippewa Falls. Lincoln and Clarence of Eau Claire; a sister, Lois {Heffler} of Hemet. Calif.; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Hawkins. No visitation is planned. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family prefers memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or Indianhead Chapter Alzheimer Foundation.
