Gracie P. Grissom, 92, of Chester, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, in the Colonial Heights Health Care Center.

She was the daughter of the late Albert and Alpha Bouldin Jessup. Gracie was the widow of Perkins Grissom, and predeceased by two sons, Bobby and James Grissom, and a daughter, Margie Matthews.

Survivors include four sons, Carl Grissom of Petersburg, Harry Grissom of Richmond, Richard Grissom of Blackstone and David Grissom of Dinwiddie; five daughters, Margaret Cleaton of Ford, Gracie Hite of Amelia, Carolyn Goff of Chester, Jane Grubbs of New Bern, N.C., and Brenda Cox of Colonial Heights; 35 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Delano and Mecy Leiser.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, with the Rev. David Prather officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
