Mr. Ward was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was an active member church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Molly Ward, four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Barton, Mrs. Maude Barton, Miss Bertha Ward, all of Surgoinsville, and Mrs. Nellie Sutton, Church Hill; four sons, Henry, James, Simon, and Stephen Ward of Surgoinsville; a half brother, Sam Cox of Gate City; 47 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
