Guy Kern was born in Mulberry Kansas to Joseph and Jenny Kern, one of 5 sons. His family traveled to Colorado as pioneers in a covered wagon. He and his older brothers went ahead to scout the country on horseback.
They settled first in Sterling Colorado and had a hardware store. Later they moved on to Fort Collins where the Jenny and Joseph had a homestead. The Kern brothers ran a sporting goods store/bicycle shop/and guided hunters and miners.
Guy had traveled by train through Kansas where he was beaten, robbed and thrown under the train. His body was found and buried by the town of St. Mary's. A letter was found in his clothing that gave clues to where and who were his family. His mother and father were informed of his death and they went to St. Mary's to mourn their beloved son.
His mother, Jenny had a stone placed on the grave. The memory of this young man and the story of his and his family's pioneer life will be remembered.

It is a lone marker about 200 feet SE of the rest of the stones.Go the the lower right (SE) edge of the road and head down and to the right...you will see the dry creek bed,Walk through the dry creekbed, through some high ground cover to find stone.
